Default How do I get paint off of my tires???

Thanks for the tips and site suggestions. I used the DIY in this forum to refinish my rims on the prelude this weekend.

It worked out well except I couldn't tape off the tire beacuse nothing would stick to it. (tape or otherwise)

so I made a template out of cardboard and just put it over the tire with a hole for the rim which I sprayed through the hole.

Problem is now I have over spray on the tires.

Can anyone suggest a way to remove paint from teh tires that wont do any long term damage to the tires?

Thanks

if its only a little overspray you can go over it with sandpaper and should rub off as easy as fake tattoo that would come in those gum packets back in the day. hhmmm...

hmmm

might be a little more than "a little"

I was considering useing some of the acetone I used to clean the wheel in the first place... anyone know if that would do any long term damage on the tires?

and the paint thinner doesn't adversely affect the tires? I've read that it can soften the rubber compound and can make the tires dangerous.

guess if u've done it several times its ok. but jus figured i'd throw that out there.

I did it a few times on different tires, nothing happened. Just dont go crazy with the paint thinner and pour it all over the tire.

I can take a picture of my sidewall that i used a lot of the thinner on and show you its fine. And its probably been about a few months since i did it, everything looks/feels fine.

paint thinner works the best it will not affect your tires even the aircraft remover used to remove the wheel paint won't hurt your tires
