i wanna get a new lip and i decided i'll get the mugen for my 97 .. i don't want it to crack so i want to get urethane, but i want it painted too .. can they both be painted the same way?

and will the fitment of the urethane=plastic?

 

Urethane because it's much sturdier.

 

do you know if the fitment is the same?

 

it should fit the same..plastic or urethane. as long u get the lip that goes with your year.

 

alrite cool .. i'm plannin on gettin it painted .. do you guys know if you need to use special paint since th elip flexes?

 

Urethane is difficult to paint and requires a special primer... and even then you may find the paint won't last as long as you'd expect. Expect to get it repainted again because of this.

Also, even though urethane is physically stronger than straight plastic, it has the tendency of warping so you may find that the lip that fits perfectly now may not so well later on.

 

yea .. for some reason i feel like the plastic version of the mugen lip is gunna serve me better than the urethane .. urethanes nice but i feel like this lip is gunna be heavy .. sag and now that i hear about the painting .. it just sounds like a big pita .. should i just go w/ the plastic?

 

i have had abs plastic lips and sideskirts before and they are pretty sturdy and doesn't crack easily.

Paints really easy with rattle can or paint shop.

 

Idk about other people but I haven't had any problems with warpage on my urethane front lip.

 

yeah my buddy has a urethane lip on his s10 and it needs to be repainted already. i think if you stay away from curbs you would be fine with the plastic. and i was wondering where are you ordering that lip from ?

 

i'm gunna get it from jdmshit .. i had a urethane sir lip from there and it cracked .. so theyre givin me credit toward a new lip
