Del Sol SI Transmission Issue
Hey guys, here's the story. My wife was driving my 94 Del Sol SI home from work tonight. She downshifted to third and the car started making a loud metal rattling noise and was hard to shift. She barely made it home because the car was so hard to get in and out of gear.
I checked it out when she got home. When the clutch is pushed in, there are no noises and it'll go through all the gears as long as you don't put it under load. As soon as you put any load on it, there is a constant horrible noise and is hard as hell to get into gear. It makes the noise in all the gears as far as I can tell. Definitely metal on metal noise.
Any ideas? The car has about 168k on it, original everything. My brother-in-law and I talked about the input shaft or possibly a flywheel issue. Has anybody else ran into something like this? Any help is appreciated.

The car's being towed into the dealership that I work to be looked at the first of the week. Anybody else have any ideas of what to look at/for?
like z6 hatchboy said could be a throwout bearing because it only makes noise when the clutch is out. check your clutch master cylinder for fluid and that its in working order.
