Insurance at Track Events
Hi,
I was wondering if any of your insurance companies covered track events, timed or untimed. I am planning to attend the unlimited laps event on July 26 at Thunderhill (non-timed, non-competitive event) and I was wondering what to expect before I called my insurance company (Allied). I've heard that allstate and state farm cover track events to some degree, but I was interested in hearing more feedback from you guys. Thanks!
Shingo

A few more comments: Different companies may have different policies towards coverage. And even within the same company, they may cover one person, and give another a hard time.
One starting point is to read your policy and see what it says.
There may be a chance that the insurance policy could cover "supervised driving school" events if the is an instructor on board...
I would ask also if there is any specialized rider policy that could be bought to cover anything outside your normal policy.
I have not heard of any coverage which will payout on damage from road racing or timed track events.
Good luck and let us know what you find out...

Before you call them, think about what exactly you are going to ask. It's not unheard of for a insurance company to drop a person because they asked to many questions.
Most companies will cover untimed, driver's ed events. However, several companies have started specifically excluding all on track events.

I just noticed that you have Allied Insurance...please IM ThePunk about his experiences with Allied Insurance...I think that he's on ~120 days of them calling him a theif for some stolen interior parts...It's a huge debacle and he now has over $10,000 invested in Legal fees....
