Default Help with all the lingo here. Noobie so please be nice

Ok, have a few questions. What are all the diff things like h22a and f22 and things like that. I did a search for a basic guide but could not find them. Also how do you know what you have? I have a 2001 v-6 vtec accord? what would this be or where can i find it. Thanks for the help. Also if you know of any good noobie guides to accords that would be great. Thanks in advance guys.

h22 and f22 are engine codes.
h22 = dohc 2.2L vtec prelude engine
f22 = sohc 2.2L 90?-97 accord engine vtec in ex models, non-vtec otherwise
(dohc non-vtec in japan i think)
f23 = the new accord engine, all of which I think are vtec

Gee, I didnt know my 92 EX was VTEC....

BTW, your engine code is J30A1. It can be found on a plate just to the left of the front exhaust manifold.

Heh, no one mentioned the V6 motor code.
If you didn't notice, the digits refer to the motor's displacement, for example a H22 is 2.2 liters and an F23 is 2.3 liters.
The 3.0 liter V6 is a *30... I dunno the letter.

All but the DX models in the 6th gen have the VTEC motor. The DX is the one with 135hp non vtec.
