I just got a carbon fiber hood, but it has major fades and wear. Does Anyone know how to fix it ? I searched it up and it said Wetsanding it and buffing works ? can someone give me some techniques or solutions ? TIA.

Wetsanding works wonders on most CF parts. They come from the factory with clear on them, so try going over it a small bit with 1500 grit first, and then buffing it to a finish with compound and a PC. I hope you have some experience wetsanding. It's pretty easy to burn through older clearcoat.

^I used this stuff to do a used JDM c/f hood that came over here on a Preulude Type S. It looked like hell. There was a big layer of yellow oxidation covering it and you couldn't see a reflection even if you got really close to it. The hood itself was cheap and flimsy so it was a pain to buff out. To make a long story short, I didn't even have to sand it down. It didn't come out completely perfect, but it looked new compared to what it was and you could see it shine from a mile away.

I've recommended it to several people and some have had the same luck, some haven't. All I know is that its freakin' awesome. Granted, it took me almost an hour and a half of straight buffing on just that one hood to get it to look right, but eventually it came out. I also had to re-buff a few small spots that popped back up but after that it was awesome. Buy it at your own risk but I'll never be without it I'll tell you that much.

I've dealt with at least 6 CF hoods that are faded.

major fades and wear only means the clear coat is going revealing the resin.

Re clear it.

IT's an easy task for a shop or individual who can paint.

Ive charged 75 buks for material and my time.

Wetsanding and buffing will only take more of the coating away.

wet sand it with like 1500 sand paper until there is no more shiny spots
use extra cut compund with a wool pad to buff it and then use final glaze with a foam pad to finish it
u should also wax it after its done
