It will last just fine if you do it right. I painted the calipers on my old car and it lasted just fine up until the day I sold it (a year and a half). But I took pretty much all day to do it. I removed the calipers from the car, cleaned them w/ my Dremel and a wire brush, masked them carefully, sprayed on several light coats of 1200 deg. white paint, several coats of 1200 deg. red, then a few light coats of 500 deg. gloss clear.
Since I painted my wheels gunmetal on my teal GS-R, I'm thinking a gold-ish color on the calipers would look really nice. The calipers are already that color, sort of, so I'm thinking of just cleaning them off really well and then maybe spraying just some clearcoat over the calipers to make them easier to clean.

Painted calipers look nice
If nothing else, paint them black or silver.. it looks better than rust orange.
As far as painted calipers being rice, yeah I guess porsche brakes are rice eh?
Like PatGSR said, if done correctly it will last. Use a primer, and a high temp clearcoat, and you should be fine.

Rice or Not deoesn't really matter. The only problem I see with painting calipers alltogether is that the heat will not be able to escape as quickly therefore your breaks will overheat faster and this may cause loss of pedal pressure, and will cause your rotors to worp. This is of course under extended and heavy break usage, such as track event etc. Now the decision is up to you! Clean them up and leave them unpainted that's my opinion. (and to the guy that was talking about high end sports car breaks - they are aluminum and anodized, so there is no problem with heat dispearsion)
