Default cant decide on new car

i cant choose between

03 wrx, 04-05 wrx, 99-00 civic si

im open to any other suggestions at this point

i want a decent dd, cons with the wrx's are price, gas, insurance will be higher, con with si is it gets stolen/broken in to too much but easily fits my budget including insur & gas.

The Si's are deathtraps when it comes to thievery, not to mention they're quite high on insurance and due to the close ratio trans that 1.6 doesn't do too great on the highway. Though neither does the Imprezna. Though the imprezna has the *** to back it up, the Si just lacks. It's not enough bang for your buck IMO. Not to mention due to the low displacement it has no torque.

I'd say go with the '03 WRX. I don't like anything too new, then you got to worry about more in terms of nicks 'n such in parking lots and the like. Not to mention an older car will have lower insurance (generally).

If you go with a Honda/Acura I'd recommend going with something like an ~03 Civic, or RSX, not the Si.

EDIT:
My friend bought a ~03 or 04 LX (I think) Coupe. It's not a bad car at all for a daily driver. I love it, it's not exactly a race car, but in terms of daily drivability, it's quite nice.

In my opinion get the EM1. They look better than the WRX hands down and they are cheaper in the long run. You'll get tired of the gas prices especially since they're on the rise . As long you don't plan on modding the EM1 too much then if it gets stolen your insurance will cover any lost and you'll be fine. Don't let thieves control your life. Good Luck with your decision though!

Well there are many things to consider in this case. do you have a need for 4 doors ? do you live somewhere that snows ? do you live where there are hills ? if so the WRX is a better all around car it can carry 4-5 people easier, it can get around year round and also think about this 227hp @ 6k, 217 lb-ft @ 4K (stock WRX) VS 160hp @ 7,600 RPM, 111 lb-ft @ 7k (stock EM1) looking at those specs what do you think would be a more enjoyable DD ?

gotta love the stock boost on a wrx, but all time all wheel drive kills mpg. my friend just bought a 03 and driving like a granny he gets mid 20s. as soon as he gets on it he's in the teens. plus you can always put snow tires on a honda. gotta love those narrow stock rims! all personal preference. good luck

If your not driving alot, get the 03 wrx. If you do alot of traveling and are worried about gas milage, get an em1 and get alot of security for it. If I was in your position right now living where I live, I would go for the wrx because I dont really travel far since school is 2 miles away and work is 3 miles away and winter would be so fun with the snow Ahh i just love AWD snow drifting

I Second this post! Here in New Hampshire AWD would be great. But if you live South of NJ I would go with the Honda. Subaru's are great but back in '03 GM had a major stake in them they are geting better now that Toyota has stake in them now!

I'm with Syndacate on this one, I really really like WRXs boost and awd coupled with a competent chassis and almost as much aftermarket support as the SI is a good recipe for fun, having said that this is a honda forum so most will say the SI. Drive all of the cars find out wich one you want to live with every day

I've had both the 03 WRX and a 99 Si. I loved both cars for different reasons. PROS: With the -WRX; awd, fi, 4 doors, 227 hp, nice ride. -Si; it's a Honda, cheap to mod, fwd, nice ride as well. CONS: -WRX; weak tranny (except the STi), mpg, expensive to mod, expensive on ins. -SI; can't really think of anything

Like someone else said don't let thieves control your life... thats what ins. is for.

ive researched the cars as extensively as i could, i see pros and cons but just cant decide.
i do think the SI would be a more practical DD though,
cheaper, cheaper gas, more mpg. I am in college and living in an apt so no garage though but im not worried about it because of insurance.

with the wrx, more power, awd, turbo, and i personally like the interior more than hondas. downside is it just cost more, and i dont really need turbo, it would just be awesome though.

im not looking to mod, jus want a dd that is fun to drive out of the box.

i dont live too far from school or work but i plan on taking trips. gas isnt to big of a deal to me but i think it might be smarter to go with better mpg because when arent college students ever in need of extra cash?

thing is i just dont want to regret my decision, which i think right now its looking like the SI due to practicality.

if you're going to leave them stock like you say you are you will have more fun with the WRX its faster, handles better, easier backseat entry and more room once you're back there, it isnt as much of a cop or thief magnet and if you need more power its just a boost controller and tune away.
