car makes buzzing sound when going 55mph+ i think it's me bearing?
My car make major noise(buzzing sound) when I'm going 55mph & above. This one guy said that it's because my bearing is warped?

Neuspeed sport springs
blown shocks
unbalanced tires (20,000 miles on new Michlins with the springs,THEN I FINALY ROTATED THEM
but they were not balanced.
************What do you think it is? I hope that it's just my shocks. Can the Neuspeed springs cause the rear wheel bearing to warp?(because this is the first time i have heard of it)

what do you mean? a bearing from honda is less than $10, but don't i have to take the complete suspension off and take it to a shop to have them press out the old one and press in the new on? OR is this somthing i can do myself?
I thinks it's just both of the rear ones.

A bad wheel bearing will get progressively louder as speed increases. It will sound similiar to driving on a gravel road when it gets worse. The sound should start @ 35-40 MPH depending on how bad it is and if it is a bearing it will get louder the longer it isn't fixed.
Hope this helps

unbalanced tires cause excessive stress to be placed on suspension component and wheel bearings.......tires are not evenly balanced from the tire factory (due to imperfections created in the manufacturing process) and that is why they NEED to BE balanced.
eventually you will lock a wheel due to bearing falure or blow a tire due to excess heat generated by the bearing

take the front hub off press out the old bearing and press in the new one......or take it to a shop and let them do it.
I recenly replaced my right wheel bearing. The bearing cost me around $80, and not $10. If you have power tools, pulling a rotor and hub isnt hard. However, the old bearing needs to be pressed out and the new one pressed back in. You can take the entire hub assembly to a shop, that would be much much much much cheaper.
$8o for each bearing? damn that's expensive.
how much do they charge you to press in new and out the old one?

if you are lucky you can get it done for $65 Burkle Honda wants $95/hour labor Brookdale is cheaper and worth the drive to them if you save $30
I dont know where you guys are getting your figures but it takes 2 hours to replace bearings at Honda here in chicago....=$130 labor + parts Almost as difficult as replacing rotors.

how can you be certain the bearing is making the noise? I had always been told that a wheel with a bad bearing would wiggle. if you lift the car and shake the wheel it would move in a way that it shouldn't. almost like the wheel was loose.
i ask because mines been making that sound, but everyone i talk to says that if the wheel isn't wiggling, it isn't the bearing. or does it have to get really bad before it wiggles?

wheels wiggle when tie rods go out... when bearings go out the wheel makes a grinding noise and unless you drive the car you really cannot tell if a bearing is bad as most are pressed in and sealed for life.......

And would like to add, if your left right front bearing it bad, then your car will make a worse sound on left hand turns, and will be almost perfect on right hand turns. And visa versa for the opposite wheel.

Oh and what makes them go bad? I've only got 83k on the car and I know it's been making the noise for the last 20k at least. I didn't do much about it cause somebody I work with had me convinced it was the differential going bad.
Still learning a lot about turning wrenches...
Actually, it is exactly what I described. Think about it! You see, since your LEFT front wheel bearing is bad, then taking RIGHT turns wouldnt cause the noise because less weight is on the RIGHT wheel, and more on the LEFT due to body roll. Now, taking a LEFT turn, would make the sound normal because more weight is shifted to the RIGHT wheel due to body roll and less on your LEFT wheel. Get it? Try to picture it, and it will make sense.
If you jack up the car, that wheel should not spin freely. There are only 2 reasons a wheel would not spin freely, and those are a sticking caliper and a busted wheel bearing. I think it should be pretty obvious.
I'm talking so much about this because I had just had mine replaced litterally one month ago.
