Hey Everybody! Just a quick question. What type of Engine comes in an Ek (stock of course)?
Just wonderin'. Ask questions about whatever as needed.

Well, it really depends on what cars you're talking about. When you say "EK", I'll assume that you're talking about 1996-2000 Civics.

See people, this is what I mean when I say that if you want to use chassis codes, to please know what they mean or else just use the trim, etc. to identify the vehicle.

So, here's a quick break down of some of the cars and the engines. I'll also include chassis codes to help you learn about real chassis codes.

I'm only going to list the US chassis first of, since you're probably in the United States. If you need information from another country, tell me.

There are no EK chassis cars in the US. You'll see that for the 6th gen Civics, chassis codes usually match to certain engines or certain engine types. For example, EJ6s would all have 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC engines, though the engine code is probably different in other countries.

The Canadian cars for the most part are the same, but the trims use different names. It's kind of confusing.

US EX = Canadian Si
US Si = Canadian SiR

For the most part the CX, DX, etc are the same... at least engine choice-wise.

At the bottom of the trim differences post I linked above there's a key to the engines and chassis codes for US versus Canadian trims.

Oh, and the Civic Type R only came in Japan. It was shipped to Europe later because it's apparently cheaper for them to ship JDM vehicles there, but that's why they're so plentiful there too.
