Default rhd conversion. would chp hassle you?

UPDATE PART 2.
the dash has no vin. and the fenderwall has a jdm vin. usdm motor vin. and the vin on the doorjam is diff from the motor one.

i get the truth when the time to trade is near. so now he tells me.

UPDATE
update on the news

found out the the VIN on the firewall is a JDM....and the dash and doorjam is usdm. motor is a swap and it's usdm

THE IDIOT...now tells me...he lied to me....a few times...but i still want the car. i called chp and they transferred me here and there and they are not sure. one officer told me to call back tomorrow b/c the officer "knowledeable" in that field is not there today. lol soooooooo meaning i have to wait until tomorrow? what do you guys think so far?

ORIGINAL POST
okay so i'm planning on trading my ek for this guys eg rhd conversion. he said the vin number is still on the firewall and it matches the dash. has a usdm single cam vtec motor and of course it's a diff vin.

now the question is if i get pulled over by chp what should i say or handle the situation?

any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys

I'd stay away from something like that. As good of a deal as it seems, the guys knows very little about the car. Therefore there's a damn good chance that the motor is stolen. I'd stick with what you have until you can find a 100% legit deal.

you live in cali, don't buy it, you'll have your car crushed if its found to be stolen.

no it's a legit with pink slips and everything.

i found out. its a usdm motor. so meaning its a diff vin. he said the motor is not stolen either. but how do i verify if he does not have papers? would chp check the vin on the motor and run it? so what if it doesn't run illegal do i still need the papers for the usdm motor to prove that it belongs to me? dang so many questions thanks

Is the car BARed? because if its not its not legal anyway. i heard of some one getting rhd conversion and then they had the chp restamp the vin on the right side to show that it was legal. i forgot how but i think there is a way to look up to see if the motor is stolen.

if it was me id write down all the different vin's on the car ie: dash, motor, firewall. then get a copy of the title and whatever else you can think of like emissions info or anything that chp might hassle you for. then go to the chp and ask them. they can run vins and see if anything reported stolen, and tell you what is and isnt legal about the car. i mean why not ask them, you havent bought it yet so they cant charge you with anything, and if the motor is stolen then the guy that owns it now deserves to get busted anyway.

Did anyone mention that RHD makes your car 10 times more attractable to theives? When theives see that, it just screams "I dumped lots of money and time into this car!"

if he wants to sell the car and everythings legit, not stolen he'll do it. if i had a RHD with that much work into it and i wanted to get rid of it i would be as cooperative as possible. if the car is legit he will have all that info anyway. all hes gotta do is find his paperwork and make copies. and again if i had a RHD id know where all my info for it was. it shouldnt be a problem at all and if he is reluctant to do all this for you i would be even more suspicious.

Well the dash one I really wouldn't worry about 2 much much because it right hand drive you tell them that you did the conversion the most important to chp or any other cop i would think is the firewall and the title match but its obvious its not going to I know in Jersey after a car has been Chopped if the Person does get thier car back the state issues special vintags and special title with registration to show it was a stolen recovery.

The tags here are all orange and they vin Plate the firewall over the other one and the put a holographic sticker on the doorjamb but like i said you get papers for this. I don't think state to state would be much diffrent but then again your in Cali

dont trip so much... Its okay. Im my experience "IM SELLING MY RHD-EK ALSO" i wouldnt wanna screw up someone who i the buyer or even risk it myself. When a normal person puts that much money into there car the last thing they want is to get it taken away for something stupid. But then again if hes not the original owner, swapped another motor, or doesnt have a good source for his parts then it might be fishy. But when you buy your swap at a legit place, and get the firewall at a good place you have nothing to worry about. I've been pulled over and i've had no problems. The door jam has the original VIN and CHP knows that you swap the firewall and the window VIN is gonna get eliminated. I did weeks of reseach before i made upp my mind and in the long run "ITS NOT ILLEGAL, ITS OK"

SPARKNOTES= Nobody would take the time and money to put something like that together with a bunch of stolen parts. Why risk spending the cash

Most likely the original owner threw it away. Alot of shop would actually throw it away and don't even give it to the customer. Unless the customer requested it.
