I have a budget of $1600. I first thought that it would be good idea getting an LS/Vtec, but it would cost more money building it. I came across Poor Mans Type-R idea and wanted to know if this would be a simple bolt on? What would I need in order to make this work?

It's a GSR block with B16 head. The problem is that the GSR has smaller combustion chambers than a B16 head. So by putting a GSR block together with a stock B16 head, you lower compression by about 0.4 points.
If you insert B16B pistons into the mix or a thinner head gasket coupled with CTR/ITR cams, I guess it's more of a poor man's type R.
Dont be poor. Get the real deal. Factory assembled motors are so much nicer.
Save your money. Buy a B18C5 for real. Then sell your good B16A to make up some of it.
