parking pole, sunroof problems.
this is for a 1995 civic coupe.
ok so the other day i wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. i went to go cruise a little with some friends and opened the sunroof all the way up and out. when i got home it was wierd because the motor was struggling. and when it got all the way to the front the part that angles out didn't want to come down. the sunroof was closed, but the back of it just stayed up and it sounded like it wasn't getting enough juice. any suggestions??
my other problem is that on my parking pole harness. when i got it it was incomplete. only had the parking pole, switch, and the two plugs with cut wires coming out of them. 4 wires in total colors are as follows:
yellow/red stripe, yellow/white stripe, black, red/black stripe. now my question is how do i hook it up? one of my friends told me to do it to the ignition, i did but all it did was drain the battery. and the switch has 4 blades coming out its like
ll
ll
so what do i hook up to what?? thanks!!!
and yes i have searched!! but the answers i got were for harnesses that were already complete. my harness ends at the bumper i needed to extend it another 5' so it can reach the glovebox.

Sunroof motors die...just like everything else.
I suggest cleaning the tracks really well, first, and apply some grease.
If that doesnt help, look into replacing the motor - its pretty simple if you look at it.

you can order your sunroof motor from one of the places listed in this thread..

I don't think you can go down to your local parts store and order the motor, good luck!

Its under Interior-Bumper/ROOF MOTOR @ SLHonda.com's part site
Its number 31 above... 70450-SR3-003
Check that its the motor before you buy anything. You wouldnt want to waste the money...at least I wouldnt. Clean the tracks first.
You can use a multimeter and a battery to figure out the crap for the pole, too, btw.
If you dont know how to use a multimeter, Im assuming you dont own one.
Honestly, Autozone has a decent multimeter that comes with instructions on how to use pretty much every feature on it, for a low price. I dont know the brand, but its orange and purple...

since japan rides on the right side they have a little pole on the left side of their bumper that lights up and lets them know exactly where there bumper is so they can fit into those tight parking spaces. i know its of no use here but i got the whole SiRII bumper with parking pole, and foglights for free. so why not use it?

While generic auto parts stores might be able to get the part, the aftermarket versions likely will not fit correctly (this happens with antenna motors too) or the salvage parts might be very very expensive by comparison to what salvage parts should cost you.

A parking pole is a small pole that is usually on the passenger side of the front bumper of a vehicle. It helps the driver have a more accurate idea of where that front corner is so that the car can be parked in tighter spots.
Some of them light up and some of them are electric and extend out of the bumper when in use, but otherwise hide within the bumper doing normal service.
They were popular from the dealer in Japan, but there were also aftermarket versions sold too. There are also rear versions that sit on the top of the rear quarter panel next to the trunk.
A lot of people hate on parking poles, siting that we don't have such tight parking, that the part is only sought after because it's JDM or because a person who does not or cannot tell exactly where the far front corner of their car is should not be driving.
