Default question about doing some work on my bumper

so i picked up a bumper and its got some deep deep scratches on it (so bad its like the plastic is actually what i feel when touching it) . i was wondering how i would go about getting rid of those before i get it painted and put on my car. sand it? bondo it? sand and bondo? i really have no clue since i've never done anything like this before but i got the bumper for free so i figured i have a free chance to do it myself. all help is surely appreciated!!!

I've used some flexable/plastic filler that was designed for plastic bumpers with success. The stuff I used just came in a tube, follow directions, but it would involve cleaning the area, fill, sand, repeat if needed. Simple.

if i MUST use a damaged bumper id fill it with a plastic welder, if you can get one of course, then some filler and ur ready to shoot after a nice sand with 320. i recently fixed a 3000GT bumper that was cracked and gouged and cut with the palstic welder, it works great on these type of repairs, but if you can get one, try sanding some it out, dont go too hard, or too much becasue u can make a flat spot or even make a hole in the bumper itself.
