losing power going up hill

Default losing power going up hill

i have a 96 y8 and we took a trip yesterday while driving i noticed that when i would go up hill i would loose a of power. i would be in 5 and would have to drop down to like 3 or some times lower. also my car idles below 1 should i change the fuel filter.

could be lots of things.... but yes filter, plugs, wires... but also part of driving a d series... my B series doesnt have that issue

its called owning a honda.. only fix is a big displacement v8... or a "souped" up b-k series.. =]

Do routine maintence first: filters, plugs, ect.. Finally get a valve lash adjustment, thats what helped me the most. After i rebuilt i had to pull hills that i'd normally do in 5th and 4th in 3rd, and my idle wasnt good. Adjusted the valves and was good to go.

hes asking y he has to take hills in 2nd or 3rd instead of a higher gear, if im reading your post right your saying matinence allowed you to take hills in a lower gear...

any matter, op this is typical of any car, a lower gear is better for hills and will cause less bogging, you just happen to notice it alot more in a torqueless sohc
