Engine swaps have become the norm nowadays and integra motors have been targeted as the swap to get.
One subject that everybody has over looked is the installation. Who is installing these stolen motors for customers? I doubt every stolen motor was installed by the buyers themselves. We need to crack down on shops who are installing motors without checking legitamacy (legallity) of the swaps. Sure the thieves could install it for them, but most transactions are completed over ebay thousands of miles apart.

the sad truth is that there will never be an end to theives. Money rules the world, and if the theif himself can not put it in, he/she will PAY a shop to put the motor in for him/her. And what shop is going to say that they will not put a motor in for MONEY because it is stolen??? Thats my .02 cents. The only solution i think is if there are harsher penalties for stealing.

dont talk about stolen motors here!
the h-t members will just flame you and say "all type R **** must be stolen...." ... immature stuff like that. Ignoring theft =
btw, yeah, penalty for stealing is very minimal compared to other countries.

I was browsing through the hybrid forum(not that they have stolen motors or anything), and I noticed people posting asking where to get their engine installed at.
It may be a long shot, but if you installed a engine for someone without a VIN, would you be considered an accomplis in the crime?
If so, it could be an easy sting to get some felony convictions....
I think your average real enthusiast can do a swap on his own with a couple freinds helping out. A lot of people wouldn't try it because they're intimidated but if they tried I think they'd find it wasn't as hard as they thought. I've helped with one and to be honest I thought my JRSC install was harder.
I could do it, it would take me about five times as long as a pro, but it would get done.
Now when it comes to breaking down an engine an putting it back together, I'll leave that to a pro, but relocating mounts, running a wiring harness and putting in the right axels doesn't seem like anything exceptionally hard.
