Default Transmission noise

Hey guys I'm about to replace my clutch on my 97 JDM ITR motor with OEM exedy and 7.5lb fidenza flywheel. Only problem is my transmission makes a weird whining sound..sounds similar to a supercharger no joke. And 2nd after beating on my car for a while during full stops the transmission makes weird chattering noises and once i press down on the pedal the sound goes away..I did re-search and a lot of people were mentioning on old threads that its the bearing inside the transmission..any suggestions would help.

Hmmm well my transmission made that whining sound right before it destroyed itself beyond repair internally. Did you have any bad mishifts recently?

I believe as well that if "noises" stop when you pushing the clutch in it could be either the throw out bearing or the inputshaft bearing....I will have to look it up again and check, I cant remember which is what.

Honestly, it sounds like you should stop driving the car and drop the trans, open it up and have it all checked out just so you don't have yourself a blown tranny in a few miles.

yea man honestly I am not sure what to tell you because it sounds like regardless you gotta drop your transmission. If it were me, instead of trying to replace this part and that part, re-install, etc only to find its still making the noise, I would just drop it, take it apart and have it rebuilt. The chattering noise is what bothers me....

if the noise goes away when pushing the clutch in its most likely the throwout bearing, did you put a new one in when you replaced the clutch and grease it?

Actually when you depress the clutch pedal, it engages the throw out bearing. If that bearing has gone bad, a whining noise comes from it.

Dont mean to thread jack but Im going through the same problem as well, I changed my master & slave cylinder and that didn't help so I'm going to buy a new clutch and see what happens. I dont have any noises but the pedal really starts to shake when I press the clutch. Yes I did have a bad miss-shift recently. The weird thing is when I start the car and attempt to put it into 1st it wont let me, but if I put it in 1st and then start the car, I can go. Weird eh? Oh and it only grinds at high rpm shifts, but since I'm scared to death of braking anything i drove it home shifting at 2k and garaged it. Thoughts?????

Clutch/flywheel haven't been changed at all. I assume everything is stock. I'm about to order a new OEM clutch and fidenza flywheel. The clutch comes with a new release bearing and piolet bearing so hopefully the whinning sound will go away along with the chattering sound.

np man you're having the same problem so we're here to figure it out, but one way to find out is to either rip apart our tranny or take a risk and buy new clutch and hope the problem goes away.

your input shaft bearing needs to be replace. save some money and make sure you put honda parts (bearing). also work with a good shop that will clean the tranny housing instead of wiping and putting it together. expect to pay $400 + depending on shop/s.

I'd at least try and pull the trans yourself man. I think Acura has a price of like $500 just to drop the transmission...
