oil temp guage not working

Default oil temp guage not working

so today i installed my gauges and the oil temp just stays on 100. it dosnt move one bit. i was wondering how long u would have to drive to get some movement out of it. i installed it useing a oil filter sammich addapter it was easy to intall but i dont get why its not reading. i drove mabe 20 miles to the store and back and it didnt budge. do i need to drive farther or is it just to cold out to really heat up its 40 somthing out.

put the sensor in the oil pan, it works much better there

thats the whole reason i bought the sammich addapter i didnt want to tap it i wanted a easy install b/c iam goin to already have to tap it of the oil return. i was just wondering if it would read it after it has been heated up. how long for it to read i drove like 20 or 30 min well mabe more like 15

you should check your sender wiring again. it's probably not making a good connection. mine is also in a sandwich plate and reads around 180-190 at idle, then 210 when running around town. it takes about 30 minutes for oil temps to heat up. my coolant temp gauge get's up to operating temps quick (about 5 minutes). my .02

yea it just sits at 100. i live 5 min from my work and i baby it. so i guess it should just heat up after 30 min u say? i think my wiring is good.
