running rich?
i noticed that when i get on the gas or just turn the car off that i can smell 'gas/strong exhaust'. i do have an intake on it, do i have to do something with my computer at all??? i guess any information on why it would be running rich would help. Thanks.
You might smell a bit of gas when you exit car. Pull your spark plugs and smell them. If they reak of gas than your running rich.
Do you see any wierd smoke upon start up, and throttling? Black perhaps? Try to have some one start your car sometime and look yourself.

no, nothing black. theres a little bit of white when i 1st start up car. when i changed the plugs last summer i noticed they smelled like gas. how do i fix that???
check to see if your injectors are working properly, they might need replacement. I did a Seafoam fuel tank flush, and noticed a difference, less of that white smoke on start ups. If you have a lot of mileage on the car, changing the fuel filter (cheap) can help, especially gas mileage.
I got the same problem, but the car backfires a lot when warm, already changed the fuel filter, FPR, spark plug wires, don't know what to do, there's a strong gas smell inside while I'm driving, took out the spark plugs after 40 miles and they were dark, what else could be the problem? it backfires and loses power intermittently.
white smoke isn't running rich. white smoke is headgasket related or condensation depending where you are located. black smoke is running rich

I'm gonna go get my injectors cleaned, hopefully that'll fix the problem, like I said, it does it after the car has run for like 5 minutes, I don't see any smoke coming out
well, after driving around a bit. its not really a GAS smell. its more of an Oil smell. any help? my car drives fine, i'm just wondering if i should look into this or if its just common?
I just poured one of those Lucas fuel system treatment small bottles into my tank yesterday, actually I used the whole bottle on like 6 gallons of gas, (it says it treats up to 25 gal) lol, it doesn't backfire that much anymore, hopefully it'll get better with some time. I'm glad with the results after changing fuel filter and FPR, I should've bought the Lucas first.
That lucas probably didn't fix the problem. Its sounds more of a ignition timing with your backfire. Inproper combustion cycling. If you notice it more with heat, could the cyclinder heat be causing pre-detonation?
Most fuel injector cleaners don't do much. The process when you remove the injectors and physically clean them is the onlyway I found to be 100% effective. Detergents do a bit occasionally, but gas alone is a detergent so if gas can't remove blockages chances are those other chemicals won't do much either.
I'd save the money on gas treatments and save for an actual cleaning done at a shop.

Or if you wanna clean the injectors out well, splurge on a can of BG 44K, it is amazing stuff, put it in a fullish tank of gas, and run it alot, hard long drives if possible, really clean the fuel system out.
I can spend money on either getting the injectors cleaned or getting the ignition timing right, I'm not sure what the problem is with my car cuz it's backfiring a lot again, specially when I'm taking off or when I'm doing like 40 and step on the gas.
