A/C problem after swap
ok my AC was working just as fine as ever before i swapped my b16. but now when i turn it on, the compressor comes on and everything but it doesn't get cold? i know when i was dropping the motor in i hit one of the lines a little but i didnt think it was that bad. is there an easy way to check for leaks? thanks
they have a uv kit that you add to the system...some refrigerants come with it. you can use a blacklight to see where it's leaking.
sounds to me like you're going to be getting a hose, or o-rings at least

If you had low pressure, the compressor would not engage. Are you sure that the compressor clutch is kicking in and spinning when you push the A/C button? Get a gauge and the UV dye kit to check the pressure, then if its low use the dye kit to find the leak.
Its possible that it is leaking but not enough has come out to trip the pressure-switch yet. But... that doesn't explain why it isn't getting cold.
Also, if you have to refill the system, R-134a is the only refrigerant available (R-12 is available, but the price is HIGH.), so yes you would have to do the conversion before you refill the system. It only involves installing the conversion fittings onto the old R-12 fittings. (There are two, a high and a low side schraeder valve.) However, you'll have to go to an A/C shop to get the old R-12 evacuated (vacuumed out) and they should be able to recharge it quickly and relatively cheaply.
