Starting up NEW Setup LS/Vtec!!!!!
OK guys i'm planning to here in the near future put my Ls/Vtec Build together, but before that can happen i got a few questions for the people who has put a Ls-v together. First off, most Ls-v's i've been researching is not a build that i'm looking foward to. Either all or most Ls-v that people post on here is just Ls block plus Vtec head and like type r pistons and etc. etc. What i want to know is that i'm planning to put aftermarket pistonsand etc. etc. Has anybody ran a Ls-v build with a complete build up with aftermarket everything. and how it ran for them. another thing i got an EK meaning it's going to be an obd2 will it be easier for me to just get an obd2 head to save less problems or is it better to just run a obd1 head (GSR head) and which will be more performance. and if i run and obd1 head do i need to run an obd1 engine harness. Sorry for the Dumb question but i just wanna make sure that i save myself the headaches. If anybody could give me any tips or info to help me feel free. and don't preach to me to do some research cause i have and i can't find anything on here.
Let me know and i will be posting up pics of my build pretty soon...

i have an ls vtec with cp pistons and eagle rods, skunk2 valvetrain.. all in my ek sedan
its running 1000 miles so far no problems.
theres no difference in the obd on the head.. unless you coun the dizzy..
all the sensors are the same. if you use an pre obd2 block.. you need to get an obd2 compatable oil pump.. and hook up a crank sensor.. not hard at all.. and drill and tap a hole for the knock sensor.. i used the alternator bracket method..
you have to use the ek harness.. no other harness will work with the car.. youll have to extend a few wires.. add a couple.. nothing too difficult.
theres some pin swapping on the ecu connectors for the iacv depending on what model ek you have.. i think the EX doesnt need it.. also the EX harness is good because it comes with vtec wired as well.. youll need to change a couple connectors on the engine side harness to work with the b series sensors.. the crank sensor is one.. i think the iacv was the other..
and tune tune tune! dont forget that part

i've got a 96 dx. you think it's better off if i just get either a 2000 si harness or an ex harness and also i was still debating on whicih ecu...should i do the p2t since mine is a obd2 or should i lean towards the p28 and get the conversion harness. and you said your's is tuned already just wondering wat base map or what engine management you using. and how it's working out for you.
I will be building an lsvtec soon also. and everyone keeps telling me to change my 98 dx to obd1 because its easier to tune and you don't have to fuss with knock sensors and 2 o2 sensors. I will be getting mine tuned on crome most likely. all you need for the obd1 conversion is a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness, extend o2 sensor, dizzy jumper and re pin a few things. im pretty sure that's about it, someone please add if I missed something.

i got a obd2a to obd1 jumper harness to a chipped p28.. runs good..
i had to pop my obd2 p72 ecu in for a day and drive easy to get it to pass inspection.. ny sucks..
for the harness.. the 99-00 harness will make your car obd2b..you mentioned you have a 96 dx.. itll work just wont be obd2a anymore.. you can get a 96-98 EX harness... either will work.. either harness will help with making the swap easier..
i used my lx harness and modified it to fit
