should have gotten a manual transmission in the first place

If you absolutely have to have a manual, don't do the swap. Trade the car in.

That's just the transmission. Not including associated master and slave cylinders, pedal assemblies, shifter assemblies, mounts, fluid resevoir, wiring (neutral safety switch, etc.)

If you're good at finding deals on cars; looked for a totalled 5 speed and use it for all the parts you need for the swap. No matter what, it'll be expensive. And like SIVIC 3 said, it's not really going to make the r18 any faster.

Geez guys, let's not forget, not everyone lives in places where cars are easily obtainable, and you have a choice as the color / trans of your car.

Not only that, but if he's going to replace the transmission, maybe he has other reasons, other than he wants to waste money. My first car was a 94 Accord LX, with a 5 speed manual - not for power, but because my mom (original owner) thought it was more fun to drive. She gave me a good price

Anyway, let's try to be helpful here... I know I always appreciate it when I get help from here.

I priced the transmission for him. Started a necessary parts list. I even gave him a less expensive option to get all of the parts (another totaled civic). Since he found the first civic with the salvage title, it seems that he's resourceful enough to find things like that despite his location.

Without a reason given for why he wants to do the swap, we are left to speculate. That being said, the only help that can be given can only be based of the information that the OP gives us. I feel like I try to be helpful even though my opinion may also be included in my posts.
