Just some observations in terms of the car's legality for ECHC. The rear windows would have to go back to glass and from what I can see, the cage would have to be modified. The only part of the cage that I can see coming forward from behind the seats are the door bars. Is there another bar along the roof line on each side, and connecting at the top of the windshield? Also, some of the engine work might not be allowed, but I'm not sure about that. I'm thinking that what you did to the pistons and connecting rods might be over-prepped for ECHC.

It looks like an amazing car, one that I would love to have, but before it can be billed as a potential ECHC car, you should know what would have to be changed.

That "cage" is definately not legal considering it doesn't appear to be a cage. Best I can tell it is a 6-point bar and the main hoop would need to be re-worked to be SCCA/NASA legal.

It is definately a nice looking car though . . .

i'm guessing the cage was built to drag racing specs?

yes, sorry...thanks for the input. I should have stated that it would need cage work to be legal...I thought it would be obvious to most, as it is just a 6pt bar that I put in to be legal for local timetrials and drivers schools, and not a full competition cage....but a good starting point as its all legal size and construction pipe.

I also have the OE rear windows that can go right back in no problem, and the motor is fully legal for competition...which allows for blueprinting and balancing, etc...

you would probably also want to remove the sunroof for weight loss, and gut it a bit more, etc... but its a great base to work from and you would be hardpressed to duplicate it for anywhere near my asking price. I know this because I know how much it cost me to build and the loss I'll take selling it BUT I bought an ITA CRX and tow vehicle and need the garage space.

thanks

Probably but that is beside the point. NHRA and SCCA cage specs don't agree with each other. An NHRA-legal cage is not SCCA-legal and vice versa. There is no "best of both worlds".

Drew, are you talking about things like the size of the mounting plates, etc? If that is the case, I guess that cage would have to be removed and replaced with a totally different one?

The big differences that I know of are in the design of the main hoop. The angles and what pipes are allowed and aren't are different.

In any event the cage in that car is only a 6 point bar. It doesn't appear to have any forward roof support structure.

this thing rips. Come on, someone buy it for the ECHC. It would be cool to see more hybrids. I don't think it would have a problem being competitive either. Someone??

That is a very pretty car. Too pretty to race.

IIRC, the pistons, as long as they are (unmodified?!?) JDM Honda, are legal in H1.

My God Dave, that is a very nicely done up car. I can't imagine selling such a thing.

For potential buyers...I won't bother to bore everyone on the board with the specifics. But if you would like information on what is legal and what is not on this car for H1, email me at karl@honda-challenge.com. It would make a damn fine platform...but isn't legal as it sits right now.

--Karl, who thinks this davew guy will regret selling such a nice ride

I have seen this car in person, at the dyno day. It is a serious ride, and Dave you will definitely kick yourself if it goes.

the bar was not built for drag (NHRA), it was built for timetrails and trackdays. and the pipes and plates are SCCA legal. so the main hoop could be used and built off of w/o problems. it is 1-3/4" x .134" Mild Steel Tubing which is larger than the 1.500 x .095 DOM / Seamless / Alloy or 1.500 x .120 ERW required by the 2002 GCR (18.1.6.C) for cars of its weight.

The motor is Legal.....except possibly the cams, but I believe they should be.

I am very sad to sell it, and really don't want to. But I've only driven it twice since last october...which is even sadder. Since the honda challenge is not anywhere near my region, my focus now is my ITA CRX, crewing for the World Challenge TC series... and getting 400hp out of my new Audi TT and I live in the city and am running out of room for stuff...

thanks
