Default Clunking noise in right rear

Ok guys, I just put on my newly purchased JDM 16's. As soon as I went for a drive, I noticed that every time I turned to the right, there would be a clunking in the rear. Any suggestions?? I have made sure all lugs are tightened down.

P.S.
ALso on stock suspension with 215-45-16.

What lugs used?

Long shot, don't have JDM's myself but what about the hub, or hub centric rings?

Stock lugs as I thought that being factory rims, it should be ok. No rings but I havent taked it up to HW speed. I dont have any vibration issues.....just clunk clunk every time I turn to the right. Left? No noise.....wtf

Try putting the other rims back on and see if the noise goes away.

Just swapping rims shouldn't cause any bearing/bushing/sussy issues.

"shouldn't"

wouldn't be surprised if the size and weight differences were putting new forces on it in such a way that it's now making a noise.

^^Strange because you would think with so many of us getting the JDM 16's, there would be cases like this happening. I think Im going to get an alignment and see if this noise goes away...

Do you have an aftermarket catback? I could be hitting the right rear LCA. Not sure why it would start now with just a wheel swap though.

Everything stock. I swapped out the right rear with a stock 15 and the noise went away. Not sure what this means. I also switched the rims from front to back and the noise was still there.

I can only assume from the swap that its a rubbing issue. But if thats the case, then why dosent the left side make any noise?

Possibly rubbing/hitting? You don't need hubcentric rings since they are OEM wheels designed for that size hub

Thats why Im so confused. Im running Azenis rt-615 215-45. Is that too much? Is rubbing supposed to make a clanking noise?

my car isn't that low. nothing is rubbing, i haven't had time to really check mine out. i'm running a 205-45-16 also so tire size shouldn't be an issue.

i only noticed mine after our west coast track day.......

Hey guys, after more switching between my 15in and the JDM 16in., I find that it really does look to be a rubbing issue. I see rubbing marks on the LCA on the right rear side more than the left rear.

So this is a noob question...does this mean I should adjust my camber on my stock suspension? Can that even be done without a aftermarket camber kit?

whats rubbing the LCA? did you check the sway bar?

stock rear camber can be adjusted with the washer method but be sure to get your toe aligned afterwards.

Can you elaborate a bit more on this washer method?

you put washers between the rear upper arm and the body of the car. may need longer bolts depending how many washers you use. search n00b!

mine has been like that for years.

yes. on the control arm, I do see rub marks as it is very close to the tire. I can barely fit my finger between the two. I think thats why the clunking gets progresively faster and louder at high speed cornering. i.e. exit ramps.

upper arm? or do you mean the trailing arm? cause i think there is no way the tire hit either upper or lower control arms. if its hitting the trailing arm have you check your wheel bearing to see if it has play?

jack the car up and pull the back and forth, up and down and in and out and see if there is any play....i you say its only hitting it occasionaly or under alot of stress i think this is the problem i think

if that isnt the problem then look at the space between the strut and wheel if its hitting there then its a camber problem like stated before
