test pipe on stock D16y7?
as I was searching for options for a replacement cat for my bone stock car, I came across these "test pipes" that delete the catalytic converter.
my question is, would this work on a stock exhaust manifold? because it looks like the cat is attached to the stock manifold? does the cat just unbolt off and the test pipe go in place of it and connect back up to the rest of the exhaust that runs underneath the car? or will I have to purchase a aftermarket header to make this work?
where I live there is no emission testing so I am not worried about that.

it will bolt to the engine, but not the existing exhaust system without modification.
procivic.com sells a MagnaFlow header/ high flow cat combo for the Y7. You should check it out!

What yr is your lx? If it is 96+, you'll have 2 O2 sensors, one before the cat, and one after. You'll need to move those down if you buy an ex header/test pipe. A muffler shop can install the test pipe for you. Like Swerv said, it wont bolt on.
Check online classifieds- here, craigslist, etc. Your best bet for a cheap replacement is the whole unit from someone who's trying to get rid of it! FYI, it is illegal for shops and yards to sell used catalytic converters so you can't find 'em there...
Don't ditch the cat in hope to have a faster car. It has been dyno'd to have 1whp more than a car with a high flow cat. You'll just be polluting the air we all breathe as well as sound like a ricer.
If you want to increase performance, a high flow cat will help, along with a good header. You can buy any d-series header and extend the o2 sensor wires to move the cat under the engine where it sits on most d-series motors. Or you can try out the Magnaflow setup that is a direct bolt-on for about the same price of the aforementioned.
