Need to replace the ecu on a 94 si
Ok i just got this car today has a dc sports header and exhast. The guy tells me it has a chipped ecu. Im not a fan of this because its not a real tune. I have the stock ecu but i have no idea how to change it. I just need a pic of where to find it and how to honestly change it never messed with one before thanks in advance.
Also the check engine light comes on when i get on it hard. nothing running wrong. idle is rough at start and i have to rev it a few times to keep in running. im thinking it maybe getting to much fuel.
If you pull back the carpet from the front of the passenger side floor board there will be a kick panel right up against the firewall. Take off the few 10mm nuts holding the cover on then you should have a few more holding the ECU in. Just disconnect the battery, unplug the old one, and then plug the new one in. If the current ECU is "chipped" it is most likely running way too much timing advance and causing your knock sensor to pick up detonation when running the engine hard. If you can't change the ECU ASAP, at least take it easy on the car or swap to a step colder plug for the time being.
Ok got that chipped ecu out. I'm still from time to time getting the cel. Suppose I need to get the codes now. ill have to get that checked out I guess.
