i just stopped by this new gas station after school to pump gas and i just noticed that they had put a 85% Ethanol pump in with 100+ octane for just $1 a gallon. i was just wondering...is this safe for a turbo B18B1? sounds really tempting. would anyone else use it?? price is fairly cheap as well...

but like they said, i wouldnt use it everyday
what are benefits/downsides to using it. ive looked into making my own octane booster with toluene..but its really expensive here(no one to buy 55 gallon drum from).
I've heard about using Tolulene too!! My Dad can get that stuff dirt cheap through his business..I was thinking about mixing some for the track...does anybody know the right mixture and how safe this is?? Sounds good, and cheaper than that Trick gas or whatever it's called

Pros......
ethanol has 100+ octane and burns nice and cool.
Can get it for .75 per gallon in a 55 gallon drum.
Cons.......
ethanol has about 1/2 the energy capabilty (BTU) of gasoline
eats rubbers lines!
Wait for the nitro/aky/AKSC/1.3L to rock the Midwest soon.

E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) would NOT, I repeat, NOT be safe to run in your Honda.
As we all know ethanol/methanol in that high of a percentage would be extremely corrosive to your fuel system.
It is intended to be used in so called "Flex Fuel Vehicles" or "Alternative Fuel Vehicles". These vehicles can burn E85, E15, and straight gasoline.
It is supposed to burn cleaner than gasoline but it only has about 75% of the BTU value (energy content) as compared to 100% gasline.
Public Utilities are required to have a certain percentage of their light fleet vehicles that are FFVs or AFVs. It is more expensive than gas but it is domestically produced (in the mid west US) and minutely (very minutely) reduces our dependence on overseas oil. It is more readily available in the mid-west United States.
If I was you I would not run E85 in your Honda. Trust me on this one.
If an Aquamist is compatible with ethanol/methanol then it would be all right to run it in that manner but do NOT put E85 in your gas tank.
