Ultimate d16a6?
Well, I've started tearing apart my stock block that died on me way back when. I've been contemplating rebuilding it or investing in a b16 swap (my buddy's idea... quite tempting considering how much fun his built b16 Crx was). However, I've always been in favor of taking the road less traveled so my interest is in the a6. I've been trying to research building techniques and parts, but (no surprise) all I find is info on the almighty B-blocks, and the occasional z6/y8 info. I was hoping some of you could help me out since my interest in Japanese motors is fairly new.
Here's my plan: I want to rebuild the a6 to perform far beyond stock in every respect. I want to keep it N/A (for now) and non-vtec. I'd like to build something that is just driveable (if not more so) than a brand new stock block, but stronger, more reliable, and more than capable of taking the occasional late-night beating. What advice to you all have to dispense? And many thanks in advance.

N/A
89 teg pistons, possibly oversived.
JG head, or just new springs and valves and a regrind or new camshaft.
balanced bottom end. perf clutch.
Boosted
8.5:1 compression, Drag2 kit. I've seen a Drag3 for our car. Man did that thing make power.
Just have fun. I put some thought into this when I did my ZC and still am since its being a pain. But I'll prob go B20 in the end. The torque in the ZC is fun compared to the d16.

Hey leets, i am doing the same. Everyone is doing b series and im sticking with my stock si engine. i am interested in developing my d16a6 to full potential. well just thot i would say... youre not alone.

Judging from the market-place, there isn't a real demand for non-vtec d16 parts. After talking with some experts, and doin some research, I think I'm gonna go totally n/a. After all, turboing can get quite costly on top of the already hefty build-up cost. I just can't see spending all that money on my daily driver and leaving my first love untouched in the garage. Plus I'd just really like to prove wrong all those people who told me building a non-turbo d is pointless.

I'm also building a D-series engine or accually two.
For now i'm building the stock SI (D16A6) N/A, and then some time at the begining of next year i'm swapping in a D16Z6 w/T25 turbo. I'm tired of all the B-series swaps. I also believe you can achieve great things with the D-series motors! It is what you make it. Not what you buy.

there was an article in a mag about a 92 civic hatch with sohc vtec engine, with just engine build ups and bolt ons from gude performance and jg engine dynamics making 14.5 in the 1/4, so if you did the same with a crx, you could be somewhere in that range, .............if done correctly
why dont any of you guys hang in the d-series forum?there are some people that really know there ****! come hang out,it needs more members.the best youll find for d motors!
