Hey guys, i dont own the car personally but my gf does.. its a mildly built 95 Accord DX. Suddenly the locking system started making a sound on the driverside door.
when you lock it theres a screeching sound. Quieter than a belt screetch, but louder than the motor for the locks. Something went wrong in there and it must be somewhat common. Theres another guy in our apt complex and I hear his accord doing the same thing lol..
Any ideas guys? I really wanna replace whatever is doing this...its pretty F'n annoying! Thanks in advance

Right on tho man. Im gonna look up that part number for her.
Btw is this common with accords?? Seems odd to see the samething occur on two different cars but same models and years.

So you have an LX then
Can't be a DX or a Special Edition.
Or someone added that stuff after the fact
*edit*
And I say that because I own a "Value Package" which is a DX with AC and painted trim along with some other interior goodies, but no cruise and no power accessories. (only in auto)
Special Edition was an LX w/ a Sunroof and ABS I believe (only in auto)

Ahh gotca.
Yeah the DX and LX are pretty similar save for power accessories and cruise.
Same motor though
You were throwing me off there for a bit lol.
Yeah more than likely it's the door lock actuator. Not too difficult to replace I guessed and took mine out and replaced it.

Should be:
door handle
tray
and for the coupe there's another on the arm thing, I think that's all the screws for you
THEN
weird clip thing near side mirror
and
the rest is clips, I just grab a hold of the bottom and start pulling, they'll pop out

MM, I've done your method above and sometimes it screws up the threads on the plastic clips. There is also the potential of warping the door panel if you pull it too hard.
Anyway, I got this tool from Napa where you insert it between the door panel and the metal door, and when you squeeze it, it pops the clips out more cleanly and doesn't damage the clips or the door panel. I don't have the name or stock # of this tool (and no, I don't work for Napa), but if others are interested, just go to your local Napa dealer and explain the tool you are looking for. I've used it a lot to get the door panel off, and it's well worth the 20 bucks. This tool also helps to separate that "weird clip thing near the side mirror" too.

Oh Ballin brose, I've never heard of that tool, I learn by doing so when I had to fix my lock I just started pulling haha.
Post up the tool/link if you can find it (browse Napa online). I'd be interested
To clarify what I do, I pull out the speaker grill, as there's no clip right below it, then run one of my hands under the thin portion at the bottom and slide it towards the rear of the car, when I do that it pulls those clips far enough away so I can pull back on the door.
Haven't broken anything yet
Maybe I'll take pictures or something.
And yeah It's weird how to describe some parts haha, I'm guessing it's called like "interior mirror panel trim" or similar. That one has two clips at the top, then a metal clip in the bottom area, if you tug on it from the top and pull it, it should come off top first then bottom, once it'd freed up a bit you should be able to slide it upwards. There's a plastic arm that fits into a groove towards the front of it.

Had the same thing happen to my car and finally took apart the door lock actuator to see what the problem was. Believe it or not, the sound is caused (at least in my case) by a worn out piece of rubber. These rubber pieces are not sold separately anywhere, so you may have to purchase a new actuator. Luckily, I was able to obtain a new rubber piece and simply replace the cracked one.
Door locks have been working perfectly ever since.

the only thing that i have ever broken on the door is those stupid thing that cover the screws on the door handle and the handle on the door lol
damn edit another MATEO head call me up if you help next time

MM,
There is a part # on the tool (KD 3705), but no hits on the Napa site. I’m positive I purchased it from a local Napa store though.
In the ’94 Accord Service Manual, pg 20-5 (which also covers the ’96 for this procedure), it states “Note: Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it”. That’s the only reason I posted my initial response to your comment. The same page lists a Honda “Trim Pad Remover” tool, which is basically a wide screwdriver with a “V” slot cut at the tip to facilitate prying off the clips. Napa does have a similar tool online, and that part # is SER 378671. The tool I used is easier to use. Mine has an inner and outer screwdriver, with a "V" slot at the end of the inner screwdriver. All you do is slide the tool between the clips and squeeze the tool handle. This causes the inner part of the screwdriver to lift up & remove the clip that's holding the door panel to the metal door.
Hope this helps. Removing the door panel is is a piece of cake, especially with the tool I described above. If you pulled the door panel from the bottom & didn't break it, then good on you. I was merely trying to point out another way of doing it. Removing the actuator itself is a bit more difficult.
