Park your NSX for 4+ years, what prep work is needed first??
For those who has experience with parking your car for a long time, what sort of prep work did you performed in order to keep the car in good running order after few years? What kind of problem(s) will I run into if don't do any prep work and just let the car sit for 4 years?
Seems like a lot of your seals would be going bad after beeing dry that long. Problem is a lot of those are inside your engine.
You'll want to change a lot of your fluids to make sure they are fully oporational.
Sorry, just a newbie at this stuff.

DONT drain the gas, if you do, the gas tank will rust out from condensation in the air. disconnect and take the battery out. make sure you top off the gas tank, change the oil, make sure all fluids are full before you store it. when you take it out in 4 years, put a new battery in, drain all the fluids, and fill with fresh, change the air, oil, fuel filters. then disconnect the ecu, and crank the motor over for 10 seconds, with 30 second break in between, 6 times. this will let oil circulate within the motor so that you minimize oil starvation at startup.
I second vhwei's comments. I would supplement what he's saying by not draining the gas at all but make sure you add some stabilizer to it and top it off.

If you are going to park the car for 4+ years, you're asking for trouble. Why not just let some of us H-T folks come by once a month and take the car out to stretch its legs, get the fluids moving, etc. I'm sure you'll have many volunteers - but if you decide this is a good idea, just remember that I'm first in line.

seriously. you're much better off leaving the car in the hands of a car nut with a garage space.
someone who will drive it once every 2 weeks and get it up to temperature to drive out moisture, turn the AC on to circulate the refrigerant and that lubricates the compressor and lines. and keeps the blower fan in good working order. keeps the battery charged and alive. someone who will also run a cloth with some protectant over the interior and the leather seats once a year, as well as a oil change once a year. keep a car cover on it in the garage, wash / wax it once a year.
its an NSX. it deserves this treatment. its too expensive to NOT do these things.

What city are you in? I can put you in contact with one of the regional clubs and one of the NSX owners could take care of the car.
This is a great idea but it has it's drawbacks. What ifs like if they crash or something along these lines. But if it was possible, I'd definitely let someone who loves cars and will treat the car better than he treats his own take care of it.
I wouldn't give typeRP a hard time. Many times, cars are left in storage b/c their owners get called to work in another country, different state, etc., and they aren't able to drive their cars. And they don't want to get rid of it either. It happens. Neither is ideal.

i dunno. you can always find people that have NEVER been in an accident ( i am one of them). and are responsible enough to take good care of the car, NEVER have passengers, and drive it on sunday mornings. insurance is an option also.
the car club was also a good suggestion.
a lawyer could write up a formal contract for a relatively small fee to spell out the liabilities etc. for the person assuming responsibility for the car.

hey falconGSR, congrats on beating the statistics.
If I ever get transferred to Italy, you may drive my car.
All good points.

4 years? Just sell it... By the time u get it back it will have depreciated so much that it wouldnt be worth it.
so long as the person driving carries insurance on their car they are covered on the liabilty and property damage end. The owners insurance would act as an umbrella over the drivers insurance. It would be A OK if you wanted to leave it with me. Ive never been in accident, work at an insurance company, and live in a really nice section of the US so you sdont have to worry about thieves
Megatron, get in line, buddy. See above.
lol this threads a crack up..
Best car i've ever laid my hands on is my ITR.. i doubt i'll ever get to even see something like an NSX in my lifetime.
