Default 02-04 RSX-S exhaust question

Alright so i just picked up a 03 PWP type s over the weekend. im fairly new to the modifications and what not to cars. But i am wondering what i should do about an exhaust. i dont want that fart can sound and i dont want something obnoxiously loud either. i like the stock sound but it would be nice if it was a little louder just not sounding like a fart can. is there any way to achieve this with maybe just a high flow cat and CIA or SRI?

Well what is your price range? I have the 5zigen pr-oracer GN+ and its sounds reaaallly good!!! But there are tons of other great exhaust out there like the greddy sp2 or apexi World sport.

yep, just a little louder
you can also get a 05-06 exhaust
pretty affordable and it will sound even more louder (but not a lot)

Im just really trying to avoid the extremely high pitched fart can sounds. i like the sound of the exhaust now i just would like it to be a little beefier and more aggressive. you think thats achievable with the 05-06 exhaust and a test pipe and maybe a b-pipe resonator delete?

keep the resonator
find a gutted cat/test-pipe and a 05-06 exhaust then your good to go

if you want louder, get a raceheader
even louder, get a aftermarket exhaust

Leave everything stock on your exhaust (cat, muffler, etc).

But, go to a muffler shop and have them remove the last resonator (the one just before the muffler section).

This will give you the sound you are looking for and it'll be a lot cheaper than anything aftermarket. I have no idea why more people don't do this mod. It's a ton cheaper than an aftermarket fartcan and you get to keep 90% of your OEM exhaust. And, it sounds great. Like OEM sound, but more aggressive. And it doesn't drone on the highway.

Best bet is to buy an 05-06 OEM B-pipe and have the resonator removed no that one. Not only do you get the sound, but you also get a better flowing exhaust.

How much do you think it would cost to get that done at a shop? and is it worthless to do it with the 02-04 exhaust?

Probably anywhere from $30-$75. Hard to tell. Usually private muffler shops are alot cheaper than a chain, and they are more willing to do custom work.

I did that to my 04 exhaust when I first got it. If you're looking for better sound this is the easiest and cheapest way (that isn't ghetto).

alright so i have been reading alot about this on CRSX and it seems like it might not be a very good idea to get the resonator removed. im wondering if anyone on here has done this. and how does it sounds because i dont plan on getting another exhaust until i go FI. and i dont wanna have to go out and spend a lot of money on something im gonna replace in the next few months this is just something temp. for a little more sound. i definitely dont want the fart can sound. so if anyone can please provide me with some input before the afternoon id really appreciate it.
