Default How do manufacturers sell kits without a BOV?

I don't think I've seen any kits (Drag, Rev Hard, Greddy, etc) that come with a BOV or any sort of compressor bypass valve.

Cars like DSM's and the 300ZX TT have a compressor bypass valve and most everyone who buys at kit gets a BOV anyway....but do the manufacturers of these kits just assume that you will buy a BOV?

Everything I've read/researched/seen seems to indicate that it is extremely bad for the turbo system to not have a BOV/bypass valve.

Thanks,
Sonny

i just looked over at importparts.com and there Drag kits come with what looks like the HKS sequential BOV..
i know that Greddy doest, its suposedly allright beacuse of the low boost out put. But it still slows the comp. blades down with is in turn bad for the turbo, so i really dont know what they are thinking!

I must be confused. So it's only Greddy that doesn't have one. Their logic for not including one is because of the low boost it produces? That seems ghetto for a smog legal kit.

i think that allso keeps it smog legal, a BOV is atmosphere realeasing.making it bad!!!!!BAD BAD BAD! if it put it back into the intake (WRX style y0') then it might be smog legal.

Sonny

the reason Greddy doesnt sell a BOV that vents to the atmosphere is cause that wouldnt make it very difficult to get a CARB exemption. which leads me to ask another question, why didnt Greddy make a compressor bypass valve standard? since that is what factory turbo cars have and those are supposed to be CARB legal.

it's kinda like your WG, an open WG is BAD because it vents exhaust gasses to the atmo before it goes throught the catalyst. But i dont see what harm would come from venting intake air before it has even combusted (from the BOV).

Thats what I'm saying. Its just filtered compressed air. Its actually cleaning the air Not like its an open wastegate or anything.
