92 auto trans wont shift searched already couldnt find info
my dad has a 92 auto accord it sat for 2 years but the car is like new otherwise my aunt had it but couldnt drive .anyways he can shift it manually to drive it but wont do anything by it self fluid and all is good .he talked to a man that only works on and sells hondas that is located in dallas north carolina and he told my dad there is a trans control box on the passenger side in the floor board under the carpet and that it was what is most likely wrong but didnt actually do any checking so he was wanting me to ask here about it.I told him about the 2 solenoids on the trans i have recently read about here and was wondering what they actually control and if they might be sticking since it sat for so long and that could possibly be a more sensable solution since it doesnt seem to me anything like a control box could go bad sitting .it was stored under a car port the whole time and it ran good before it was parked . If i had time i would post a pic because it looks like a brand new car inside and out probably cleanest car i have seen in a long time for the age with nothing refreshed on it .anyways thanks and hope to hear something soon
You can try to unhook the battery and the TCU resets to Default, then hook up the battery and see if the trans shifts correctly the first time thru the gears, then goes back to acting Stupid. That is a sure sign of a bad TCU.
The solenoids are held on by 10mm bolts, remove them and check for wet cardboard looking stuff in the screens; that could mean the TC is coming apart.
While you have the solenoids off you can test them on the battery, they should have a strong click and pass fluid when energized.

Thanks good info I will let him know .If the TCU is bad is the location on the drivers side correct and if so should i be looking under the seat or near the kick panel
Also is it just me or good salvage parts getting harder to find or is it me cause i have a 93 accord manual and the local yards that have these cars dont have much left and I EVEN TRIED AUTO ZONE for cv axles and the web site said not avaliable in stock or even to order but that was only for manual non ABS axles. I`m sure I can find them else where but jees with millions of these types of cars it seems parts would be easier to find .Oh well at least shes wearing new shoes on the front although i had to get out of bed and drive 20 miles to change a flat for my wife this morning ,and she didnt even drive the tire off the rim this time LOL.
