Radiator crack/leak
Yesterday, I noticed some mist comming out of my hood when I stopped at a stop light. When I got home I noticed that there was a slight crack on top of the radiator (the plastic peice). Since the crack was very very small, I decided to duct tape it and drive it today, because I needed transportation to school. When I was leaving school, the rpm needle started jumping from 1.5 to 2k constantly. Is this linked together or is there another problem? I already ordered a new radiator but should I be worried about anything else? I have a 1995 EX MT accord 68k original miles.
sounds like a seperate issue to me ... did the needle jump while at idle/neutral only? if so maybe your tps [throttle position sensor] is out ... just my thought ... lets see what the others think about this problem ...
When the coolant level gets low enough the FITV will act stupid and cause an idle surge because it's letting too much air go thru to the intake.
keep a close eye on the coolant
Replace the radiator ASAP and then burp the block thru the 12mm bleed screw at the T-stat housing.
The engine DOES NOT need to be running when burping the block.

I'm actually gonna have a local import professional shop do it. I'm actually pretty noob on this so I really don't want to mess with it. The needle jumps in start up idle and goes away. I won't drive it until I get it fixed up. I'm pretty sure they are linked together since it happend a day after my radiator started leaking. Thanks for responses guys. Will update when the radiator is fixed to see if it affected the weird idle.
