Linkage??
Hey all,
I have a question for you about my car. Here's the problem. I think the linkage is off for a couple of reasons.
1. When I am taking off the line fast and I go to shift into 2nd it always misses. If I let the RPM's go down than I have no problem, but if I try to throw it into 2nd with high RPM's it misses and it sounds like I can't drive(grind gears).
2. Every once in a while, when I am parked on any kind of a slope, when I put it in reverse to get out of my spot it locks and I can't go forward or backward, it's just stuck. I can't get it out of gear or anything. I have to rock the car to get it out of gear. After that, sometimes, I can put it into reverse and get out. I parked it in my inlaws sloped driveway and it was stuck there for days before we figured out what it was. It took 4 guys rocking the car to pop it out. I just don't park on steep slopes anymore, but sometimes on a slight slope it does this, but i can usually pop it out by myself.
I am not sure what is causing this and it is frustrating as hell.
Does anyone know what is causing this? Am I right in assuming it is the linkage? Is it hard to fix?
Someone please help me out.
Thanks

That is weird as hell. Since first problem is RPM dependant, it sounds like a failing synchro, not the linkage.
Second problem might be linkage or much, much worse. What year is this car and how many miles?

It's a 91 with about 162000miles on it. I have had the problem for about 2 years(when I got it), but it never bothered me because I never really saw the problem on a regular basis. I don't mind it because it keeps me from racing and getting tickets....LOL
Now I am trying to get everything on the car perfect and I really want to fix this.
