I have a 91 hatch with a 97 ls running obd1. In cold mornings, it has a rough start but gets normal once warm. Major problem i'm having is, once in a while when im braking to stop...car either drops idle to 200-400 or shuts off. Starts right back up but once it starts, it keeps going. Any ideas?


I've changed the PCV valve, cleaned the IACV, and adjusted the idle.

 

Do u have problems starting it back up when it shuts off?

No, starts right up.

 

any CEL?

 

Yes, CEL 10 TPS. But it throws it once in a while. And CEL 41 o2 sensor, wich is not wired up.

 

Is you neg battery wire secured?

Had a similar problem - my car would sputter and sometimes stop when I hit my brakes or stopped (bc my battery wire was popping off) and then when it stopped, it would start right up (since my the wire would then slide back on). Probably not the cause of your problem, but worth a shot.

 

tps could be it, just check all the wiring, jiggle it around, you know. also: im assuming its a 5 speed, right?
