Do Honda ECUs Have VIN #'s Programmed Into Them?
Hi,
I searched and read each thread in the archives asking the same question. I see a lot of mixed answers -- some say Yes, some say No -- it seams 50/50 split, but no one speaks from personal experience. I'm looking for someone who knows from experience. TYIA!
The Question: Do Honda ECU's have the original VIN number programmed into them? Is the number scannable? (For example: during inspections when the ecu is plugged into a computer to be scanned for CEL's and other pertinent data.) I'm interested specifically in OBD2a ECU's, or a '98 p72 to be exact (car did not come stock with an alarm or immobilizer).
I appreciate your responses...

Thanks. I think, from what I've gathered, the only Honda ECUs with VINs programmed into them are newer obd2 cars with immobilizers or some '05+ cars.
