Default Guys running VX rear wheels with 155-80-13s?

I am looking at doing the poor man's rear skinnines for my car.

I've been trying to look around and see what people like to use. So far I have 13" honda oem alloys that would most likely be getting 155-80-13s.

Is that the size that everyone is using? the 155-80-13s are 22.8" tall. We will be running 24.5s up front. How stable is this setup or am I just better off staying with regular 15" wheels?

I see a lot of people doing it, but 1) the speed rating is a concern and 2) how stable is it @ 140s/150 mph traps?

Thanks.

The 155/80R13 Kumhos we used were rated T(120 mph), but the fastest we ever trapped was in the low 120s. That speed rating is designated for an extended period of time at that speed.

We left the air pressure at around 40-45 psi on the street and on the track. Never noticed any stability issues other than fighting torque steer when one of the tires lose traction during a pass.

They're not bad for $24.99 ea.

We also ran 24.5s in the front, had to jack up the rear quite a bit...

You can see a better angle of them in the videos below.

Exospeed skinnies look a hell of a lot better.

I'm also running VX wheels as a poor man's skinnies, however I'm currently using some 175/80/13 tires. No stability issues for me, but i'm only trapping in the 110's. I'm looking to ditch these tires and run some 155/80/13's though.

Trapping 124.5 with vx 165/65/13's. Stability going straight is just fine.

Dont plan on turning in the rain, my rear end kicks out while following soccer moms in caravans. Its terrible.

Yeah, on the street when the tires are cold it does slide the rear end around a little going fast into a corner. I've heard it's called "neutral" handling.

Yea, We will see if we can get her to shoot straight down the track on Wednesday. Hoping for that 9 second pass .

Worst case, I have a set of weld drag magnums front/rear ready to go.
