Yea kinda hard to read, had to read it a few times. Anyways why did u go back to them? If they can't change a timing belt. What made you think they can do a swap. First part on them, 2nd part on you bro sorry to say. But good luck with your car

I think I can help with that. Please see below.....

Just a heads up to everyone who lives in the Inland Empire. I had a less than desirable service at AK1 Motorsports.

I had them assemble my b20 vtec, which they did. I then took it home and installed it myself, and drove it back to get the timing done. It was at this time they informed me that I needed a new timing belt tensioner. Very well.

At which point, they stared the car and out came a very loud clinking sound. I was shocked when they told me that a valve had broken. How could this happen? I speak to the manager who goes by the name of Chris. He simply says that I need to pay for the repairs out of my pocket. Obviously, I'm not too pleased as he is saying it is my fault. I am quite peeved at this point.

Luckily, a very good friend of mine donates his motor of the B16 variety to me and suggests that I take it back to AK1 for installation. Since I believe in third chances and am quite frivolous with my money, I agree.

AK1 does the install and this is where my problems start again. They somehow messed up my radiator cap and my previous mentioned friend has to go get it for me. When I get home from work, I notice the car is running strangely, as I hear a weird clinking sound again. I try to find the source of this mischevious noise, but no luck. However, my aforemention friend's dad gives my car the once over. To everyone's astonishment, he finds that bolts are missing from the motor mount and a few other places - which caused a dent in my hood. On top of that, my oil is very low - which seems to be due to a leak, as the my suspension is covered in oil and wheel well is drenched.

GOT TO LOVE IT.

As a word of advice, I strongly suggest that you do not take your car to this shop.

It is always best to ask around before taking your car to any shop. Without a doubt, there are others before you who can testify to their craftsmanship.

Although it is very unfortunate that you had this kind of experience, it will serve you as a reminder to do your homework before handing over your hard earned money (at Frisco).
