Both are great products
I switched to Amsoil from Mobil one.. and I was amazed at the difference. Honestly I wasn't expecting to really notice a difference in the engine running but I did. I used to have a mild case of piston slap, when using mobil one (90k miles on my engine).. after switching to amsoil I can no longer hear it unless my head is very close to the engine. I have been getting 2-3 more MPG on average than I ever did with Mobil one, and the engine seams to run smoother before and after it has warmed up.
The oil is never dirty when I drain it (7,500 miles), where mobil one was fithly after 3k miles.
Just my experiances.

FYI, if you do plan to go with amsoil, they have a prefered customers program where you can get the products at wholesale prices for a small yearly fee.

i will put in a vote for amsoil... their plant is in wixom.. about 15 min from my house. they seem like good people. i, however, use redline MTL in my trans.
when the oil is dirty when u drain it, that means it's doing what it is supposed to be doing.
The detergents in oil, will clean the engine, but what is broken off should get caught in the oil filter. Oil becomes noticably dirty once it has gotten to the point where most of the particles are too small for the oil filter, or the oil filter can no longer hold particles.

really dirty oil mean your rings/seals are going bad.
There is no reason to change your oil 4 times
in a 9000 mile period.
This is not going to benifit anything.
High end sports car don't even recommend this.
Every 3000 should be fine for an aggressive driver.
As far as oil goes,
go with a nice synth oil at a resonable price.
I have 100+ miles on my teg with mobil 1.
Have had no problems yet.
Good luck
