Default sohc vtec head on an 91 hf bottomend......able to be done?

My brother picked up a port and polished d16z6 head completely put together, 3 angle valve job, web cam, milled down .0030 i think he said (or something like that). Now we wanted to throw the head on a hf bottom end, the hf is a 1.5 and the head is a 1.6, can we do this? thanks for any help.

yes you can but id think about doing a 1.6 block swap cause it would be better.

if you want to make a 1.5L monster then itll work great. HAVE fun

you can order a conversion head gasket from autozone- your probly gonna have to change the timing belt though-

yup just like d16a minime...

does the z6 head have the square or round cumbustion chamber? i think the y8 provides even higher compression..be so will the z6 head...probly bout 11.5:1 with the milled head.. also use the p28 ecu..it works wayyy better.

if the block can hanlde it and u got an si tranny...i can see you keeping up with b16's all day long...especially cuz u got the hf...

What about the valve reliefs on the pistons? The HF only came with 8 valves, 2 valves per cylinder so the pistons have only 2 valve reliefs on them. The D16z6 head has 16valves. How would that work or does the valve reliefs not matter?

I have never in my life seen an HF piston with only 2 valve releifs.
I dont think honda would design special pistons just for the one run of motors.

every hf i've seen in my life has had 4 valve releifs, and i've seen quite a few of them.

judging from the pic i guess u gotta get urself a hold of a new block,,,, theres no point of getting pistons and stuff.... for that i rahter just get a A6 bock or even the Z6 block.... its better to go bigger displacement.... i dont wanna see that Z6 hittin that piston on VTEC. althought it will be funny see a valve flying tru the hood....

I just pulled those 2 motors apart this weekend.
95 CX thru a rod, so I put the CX crank with it's bearings into the HF block.
All it needs is pistons.

Z6 pistons on D15Z1 rods
