Default help on used block

i bought a crx with this ls motor, it wasnt running because the guy tried using the ls harness. we just pulled the motor and then pulled the head. this is what the pistons and walls look like:

cyln 4

close up on cyln 4. coolent?

white power like substance on outside of cylinder wall:

any info on what is/could be wrong would be helpful. if there is anything wrong with it, thanks!

i dont know all too much about whats normal and not in used or abused motors...but cylinder 4....that looks more to me like oil not coolent...possibly need a valve job done...or could just run it like it is if u dont mind it burning oil a bit...the rest of the cylinders dont look like they have too heavy of damage...although then again i have only seen about a handful of stipped motors that are gonna be rebuilt soo i would get a second opinion....

that oil could be just from when you lifted off the head, if i remember corectly the oil port feeding the head is in the corner by the number 4 cyl. to me that motor don't look to bad i would have done a compression test before pulling the head. that would have been a better indicator of the condition then just how it looks

the oil was there before we pulled the head. i looked down the spark plug hole

i dont have money to build it, so i'm hoping the motor is good so i can just run it the way it is

but next time, try and run the motor before pulling it apart, can tell you wahtsa ctually wrong.

Looks like normal wear and tear to me, ring a little worn, head gasket not torqued to specs, old valve seals. Slap it together and let us know

yea, i was going to try to get it running, but i had trouble finding the right harness so i ended pulling it first. motor wont be going back in till next week or maybe later, too much school work but i'll let you guys know, thanks!
