I'm just about to purchase a 99 Teg Gs through a used car dealership. Its a 5spd with 55000kms. I have the option to buy a 3yr/60,000kms bumper to bumper warranty that will be dealt through a third party. I believe the way it works is you pay a small deductible for each repair, say 100$ for a 1000$ air conditioner etc.
The warranty is going for $1800cdn, is it worth it to get it? Are there a lot of problems that occur say in the next 4-5 years?

Thanks for your input, also I plan on tubochargin it, and I guess that voids the waranty on anything turbo related.

 

That warranty sounds expensive. I would not get it. It is a 99 with decent mileage.

Odds of you getting your money's worth out of the warranty is slim. You'd have to have a pretty major breakdown to justify a ~$1100US warranty, and the time/mileage interval isn't that long.

I have a 98 GS with 48k miles on it, and I haven't had a single warranty issue. Well, I think my throwout bearing is starting to get a little tempermental, but that's a wear issue. I tried to get it covered under warranty and they pulled the, "I don't hear anything, maybe its your modifications." Yea, I'm sure the only mod in the engine bay, a damn upper strut bar is causing that...

Anyway, the warranty is not worth it, since you aren't likely to even use it once.

 

I bought a warrenty with my 96 Acura Integra....

I feel dumb for doing that now...

I would skip the warranty.. unless you have some major problems your not likely to get the cost back and as long as you do maintenance and can do simple repairs you should be good to go... damn you have to pay $1800 AND a deductable? that sucks... since you plan on modding your car I'd forget about purchasing an extended warranty.. their most likely going to say you voided the warranty somehow or deny you service.. I liked how they tried to deny my warranty and told me my power window fell off its track because my car was lowered and the window mechanism "sustained more shock and vibration than normal and thats why your window came off its track" I was like wtf?

 

yo dog,,, i bought the warrenty i do not regret it... it was 800 bucks but consider this they replace ALOT OF **** for what ... FREE.. the shitty *** plastic honda radiator on my gsr cracked...guess what, replaced it with a new one with coolant flush and paid for the tow...thats like 400 bucks,, the passanger window switch kept poping out of place...replaced for free thats like 100 bucks the passanger window seal cracked they replaced it the lock broke they replaced it. dude trust me its worth it..the only bad thing is ive heard storys of them not honoring the warranty cuz of aftermarket...but i just take all my **** off...my .02
