Default Reprogram ECU with JDM?

Say I have an ECU for an EJ7 for USA, would it be possible to reflash it with that of a JDM EJ7 ECU? Has anybody taken the roms from the ECU of one car and reflashed it with that in their car?

What is the most sophistcated thing people can/have done with their ECUs? Have they done total reprogramming? How difficult?

Sorry, what I was trying to ask, was whether or not one could copy, paste, what ever Roms to other ECUs like you would with a computer's BIOS.

How about this, can you copy the ECU ROM from an EK3 as paste it into a EJ7, EJ6 or what ever? Is there a specification for the ECU in the '90s civics? Could you go as far as putting a ROM from a different generation into the ECU of an older/newer car? (Not to say that it'd run smoothly, but that the ECU would then function per the instructions in the ROM)

Was this too confusing?
