cam shaft on old cam gears question!? please help!
it helps when you need to adjust the overlap on the cams with the gears, when you have high compression pistons and high lift cams you don't really want to adjust the timing because you might have valve to piston contact.
you can push 200+ depending on the cam combination with your motor, you can gain up to 2 hp a wide range of hp from just adjusting your cam degree if you need too, with stock camsshafts you don't really notice a difference by adjusting them but aftermarket you tend to see a few hp gains because of correctly adjusting overlap
