Stock rebuild, suggestions please..
I'm going to rebuild my GSR that been through 3 cars and had it for almost 4 years now. Two months ago it started to smoke at high revs, smell of burning oil also follows through when I come to a stop. knowing that it can be the rings or valves seals, I bought standard size piston rings, valve seals, and valve guides just to do a stock replacement. I also purchased ACL bearings, ARP rod bolts, standard size 81mm ITR pistons, and all new seals and gaskets. Engine its a JDM actual mileage not known, but I figure less than 90K.
My questions are;
1. Will I be able to change everything without having to do any crazy machine work? even though its recommended but short on cash right now.
2. Will the cylinder walls be fine by just replacing the rings with standard size again and not having to do an overbore or using overbore pistons? I'm planning to just honing the walls.
the engine was never raced or beat on it, just use as a daily. Thank you any suggestions or anyone done it this way before? thanks again

just in case you were wondering why i posted the link: its so you know what to do for the honda bearings. youre able to pick a better size in relation to your clearances instead of getting the ACL's that are just std size.
the link is very informative and provides good details. The type of rebuild im talking about is without having to unmount the engine from the car, just to remove the oil pan and head. I see that they did a .5 overbore which is I'm afraid of.

that setup is more for a race condition. its the exact same principle. if you get it honed, please take it to a shop. its not a lot of money. just extra time. better to be done right the first time than taking a risk of it being messed up

caused they know their stuff, I won't have to deal with doing something wrong myself. The hardest part will be if they tell me that I will need an overbore once they inspect the walls.....
Taking the bare block to a machine shop is A MUST the head too so it can get checked. Depending on the test they do on both they will tell you what needs to be done. But please PLEASE take it to a shop that has good feed back from others. Some shops hire people that dont know what the [freak] a ruler is, lol. but yeah They will tell you what really needs to be done if they are a good shop.hopefully you can get away with a hone and standard sizes if otherwise they will tell you if you have to go over size, take you crank shaft too and have that check. Expect to pay anywhere from 100-500 bucks depending what needs to get done or conditions of the motor.......If all is done well you can sleep well and not have to worry about **** happening.
Im doing the exact same thing you are but Im taking my **** IN FOR SURE!!
