Wow, Import Scene has really changed these days.
I was into fixing up cars during high school (95'-99') and tail/headlight conversions, slammed cars w/ 18-19 inch rims on airbags, stretch vinyled interior, cameleon paint, shaved everything were the ish but i guess the new thing is getting as close to jdm huh? after high school i got out of the scene but once i got my vtec sol, i just can't resist! I'd like to go all jdm too but i don't know about paying like 500.00+ for headlights 2g's for recaro seats etc. is the JDM scene still going strong or is it fading to a more different style? i respect ya'll for doing it but i guess i'll just concentrate on engine work and maybe some Volks or somethin. Yea, this post is pretty pointless but just wanted to plug myself back in.

man it's all about doing what you like, at least around these boards.
I was in high school about the same time as you (c/o 98), and I was just starting to learn about modified imports around the 10th grade. Unfortunately at the time I had a base model 89 Camry, extremely UNmoddable. I did the whole sticker thing for awhile, and even the *gasp* smoke GTS headlight covers lol
But in the last year or so I had that car I gradually started to move towards the cleaner side of things with less of the "pointless" mods. Now w/ my GS-R I just do what I like, with performance (specifically handling preformance) and safety being my top priorities as far as modding the car.

You dont have to worry about style if you do motor work. A fast car is a a fast car period. No matter if you win by in inch or a mile............. crap sorry I was thinking of The **** and the furrypenisesssss.
i think the "import scene" has gone a bit downhill as far as looks are concerned. now days there are to many people with overdone bodywork that keeps you wondering what that car was before all that body work and crap. but, there are also people that remain true to the tuner scene by limiting outrageous body kits so i guess it balances out...
lol, "the **** and furypenises" every single car in that movie was a waste of money unless it was owned by a company. well, no rice/jdm ish for me. maybe just the amber sidemarkers and one piece headlights for my sol. those look sooooo clean. after i'm done w/ my turbo project, i'll prolly go w/ the Si/type-r style, lip spoilers and sideskirts by autodynamics. those look really nice but have to do some fiberglass work to make it fit my car. My car in high school. was a 4runner so i couldn't "fix-it up" but did it neways. i had a cheap magnaflow muffler, basic sound system, like 3 sets of foglights and all this other bs. Just got my b16 sol this january and slowly building it up one step at a time.

i remember way back when i traded the coupe for a hatchback to pursue the "JDM" style, but now it is too mainstream, and part of that is from stoopid street
Yeah, I don't know about being part of the "scene". If the scene is clean rides, and no bling bling I guess I'm a part of it. I still don't understand how someone would dump alot of cash on something like an extreme bodykit, custom paint and the motor is basically stock with just basic i/h/e.

yeah just do what you like, as long as you don't like agressive kits, altezzas, flashing led wiper shootermagigs, n ish like that, people love ya!
that's how it seems here doesn't it?

thats like walking into mc donalds and ordering fillet minon.
but really, seems like lately i see alot of people saying stuff like "well i don't like it but it's your car" or "if you like it that's cool" I may not like what somebody has on their car, or may think it looks dumb IMHO but I'm not gonna tell him what he should do with it, unless he asks me, in which case I would give him my OPINION.
The only reason why us showers have gotten a bad wrap is becuz we have a bunch of highskool kids putting trashy kits that they got a discount from their nearest rim shop and APC stickers all over their car. these kids dont have the money to truly perfect their car and fulfill their show dreams like most of us legit showers who actually put every last paycheck into their cars and have to ask their parents to pay for their rent hehehehe (u know who u are)... they figure hey the girlies will jock me if i get a loud exhaust and some tight stickers... when in actuality their just giving the whole show scene that is suposed to be pretty select a bad wrep and there is notihng we can do about this except for everytime we see a rice mobil out on the street let him know that he is RICE..............

yes there is, just import more of those cheap *** b-kits from taiwan and charge does dumbasses who think they look nice. then, you'll have enuff cash to make YOUR car sweet *** hell. alot of those "stuntaz" jus want the kit cuz they've seen it around so much and trying to jump on the bandwagon and are pretty ******* clueless so they'll buy that **** up like hotcakes! one thought was, since "JDM" is so bomb these days and half those fools claiming their ride is "JDM". what if you crafted some kind of billet aluminum tag that says "JDM" just paste it on those weak fiberglass b-kits. Then, you can tell em that "its the bomb yo!" "its off the hook!" "this hea, the reeeelll deal, you hurd meh? and make a profit. its kinda like what we do at our computer shop. we have a print shop make us some "y2k ready" and "XP ready" stickers and make those computer illiterate fools think that our computer is somehow WWWWAAAAYYYY!!!! better than others even though most built computers are pretty much the same and depends on the components you choose. iono
