i have heard that you can do it yourself. there is some type of resistor that you can break to make it for a manual...at least that's what my friend told me. lol but i believe you could do it.

It's possible. Do a Google search and check out pgmfi.org for more details.

remove RP17 and RP18, jumper RP18 = auto-->manual

chip = identical to P28 (but without VTEC)

aight, i cant find them. if you need help finding them, then i dont think that you should do the work yourself. if you need it done. send it to someone. i can do the conversion for you, as well as socket the computer.

93turbo16 (JK Tuning) can provide this service as well, with a basmap. you can visit john's website @ http://www.j-k-tuning.com

Yeah, i was thinking about that, especially since i really dont know much about ECU's or tuning (although i'd really like to learn about it)... i also want to get it chipped with a P29 map for the OBD1 DOHC ZC that i'm getting. what is involved in doing that?

find a local tuner, have him convert and chip it.

If you can solder well, hit up http://forum.pgmfi.org for more info than most people can digest.
There are stickies in the forums for local tuners, there is also eCtune that's just released that has a lot of great features and capability. http://www.ectune.com
again authorized tuner list to find someone local to you.

tuning is nothing short of an art form, and just chipping an ECU with the P29 maps will not work very well. It becomes a basemap that requires some tuning with a wideband.

You can usually just find a P28 for $100-125 bucks.
