So my car just sputtered and died..
Well, i was driving home few minutes ago after going to get some gas. So, i'm curising up the highway to get to my house and like 3 blocks away my car sputters and it has no power. So, i managed to pull into the parking of this grocery store that's right behind my neighborhood, leave the car there and walk home.
Now, i tried starting it a few times. One time it was idling at like 200 rpms and it died, after that it wouldn't even start. It just made some clicking and grinding noises.
Could it be water in the gas that i put it in it? i don't think the timing belt snapped because i lived through that before and it doesn't have the same symptoms.
Thanks.
UPDATE:
I've replaced:
Plugs
Wires
Dist. cap
Rotor button
Fuel filter
still the same, i'm gonna go move the distributor around to play with timing, hopefully it didn't jump it.
I moved the distributor around and nothing.
NINJA UPDATE:
3-4 teeth stripped on the timing belt causing it to jump time pretty bad, so that's my problem, bougth all the tune up stuff for nothing but at least i refreshed it a bit.

Replaced the distributor rotor buttong and nothing. Fuel pump kicks on, it turns over, it just won't fire up, needs just a hair bit more to crank, but it won't. I gotta search for fuel pump relay.

Tried jumping it off and nothing. Me and my dad tried roll starting it, and all it does is click when i try to roll start, doesn't turn over. When stand still it turns over. I left it in the parking lot at the grocery storey, hopefully someone steals it.

when you say grinding i think timing belt could be twisted or skipped teeth/missing rubber on the belt itself....push or tow it home and check that before anything else or pull valve cover in their parking lot and spin the crankshaft to see if all marks line up...
if ok, do a compression test...
if ok, then see if you blew a backup fuse and/or ecu fuse under the engine bay(rare)

Kinda sounds like my buddies problem. Gonna check the timing tomorrow or this weekend.

I just read that thread you made, if the spark is really that low, i'd go for wires, dist. rotor button, check the ignition module, coil and the igniter. Mine just turns over fast. Good luck man, i may be checking my timing today, i'll let you know.
