Default mini me swap question.

i have a d15b7 block with a d16z6 head in it.
when everything is said and done.
meaning everything is back into place with the z6 head on.
do i have to advance/retard the timing?

just be sure everything is at TDC (top dead center) and then check the ignition timing

Use a y7/y8 cam gear or an adjustable gear. Then you won't have to worry about this.

The timing is "1/2" tooth off with the Z6 cam gear you won't be able to get it right. You must either use a Y7 cam gear which will fix the problem and correct it to stock timing or get an adjustable cam gear.

well im following the mini me swap that BauleyCivic wrote up.
it says that the z6 cam gear does have an extra tooth.
with that, he said to use the z6 timing belt.

dont know if that would do anything about timing.
if anything, i cant use the cam gear from the b7?
since y7 is non-vtec?

The y7/y8 gears are offset by 1/2 tooth. It has nothing to do with originating from a VTEC or non-VTEC head. You should use a z6 timing belt regardless of the gear you have.
